Black and Brown Herb Exchange Kitchen Framework

The BBHX “kitchen clock” begins at 8 in the morning, with peak hours from 8a-8p. Off-peak hours are overnight, from 8p-8a. Hourly rentals require a minimum of 10-hours per month. We are not currently accepting drop in or one time use clients.

All kitchen rentals include access to a six-burner gas stove, convection oven, commercial ice machine, triple sink, double sink, dishwasher, shallow sink, stainless steel table, wood block table, blender, crockpot, shared cambros of various sizes, strainers, assorted stock pots, skillets, etc. we no longer have the deep fryer that is pictured.

This kitchen is primarily outfitted for herb farmers and herbal product makers. Food makers may find that they need to bring additional equipment with them. This is a gluten sensitive space, we ask that gluten products not be used in shared equipment such as the blender.

We encourage multiple businesses to consider sharing a full day rental together as a single subtenant.

Weekly tenancy entitles you to assigned refrigerator and dry storage space with freezer space available for an additional fee.

Hourly kitchen rentals do not include dry storage or refrigerator access. Walk-in freezer access is by separate rental agreement. “Weekly” means you rent the same day every week for an ongoing period of time.

Weekly kitchen tenants are welcome to access the kitchen for deliveries and short trips 24/7. If you plan to be in the kitchen during a weekly tenant’s paid kitchen time, we ask that you text them a notification at least 2 hours in advance. Hourly renters should expect occasional short trips from weekly tenants.

We are located in the Gotham Building on N. Interstate and Albina. We are across the street from a Max station.

Pricing

Weekly half or full day means renting that day or half day every week for an ongoing period of time.
Example: Tuesdays, Weekly, 8a-8p

Hourly, off-peak (8p-8a) $18/hr
Weekly, half day, peak (8a-8p) $350/mo
Weekly, half day, off-peak (8p-8a) $300/mo
Weekly, full day $600/mo
Weekly, freezer only TBA

Deposit
We charge a $100 deposit for all kitchen tenants. This is the amount of our extra cleaning fee, explained below.

Fees
We strive to stay relatively fee free. At this time we have one fee - a $100 cleaning fee if we have to come in and clean up after you. The first time this fee is levied we will take it from your deposit and notify you. At that time you’ll be billed a second $100, to replenish your deposit. We really hope not to have a second extra cleaning incident. If that happens, we should all evaluate whether this is the right kitchen for you.

Theft
Please don’t steal from the kitchen community. Anyone stealing from the kitchen or kitchen tenants will be removed immediately and will forfeit their deposit.
