shared-use commercial kitchen noun : a certified commercial kitchen in which individuals or businesses prepare value-added food products and meals, paying an hourly, half day or daily rate to lease kitchen and food storage space shared by others.
 
The Shared-Use Commercial Kitchen will remove the single biggest financial hurdle facing local food entrepreneurs: access to an Alberta Health Services (AHS) certified commercial kitchen without the burden of high-cost rent, large up-front capital investment or seating space.
 
The nature of demand for food services has already changed. By developing shared-use kitchen space that is purpose-built for pick-up/delivery-only food businesses, we want to help other small business owners to maintain or grow their food businesses during our long road to recovery.
