Description

The Community Kitchen is located at The Wimberly Center for Community Development in Winder, Georgia and is operated by Wimberly's Roots, a non-profit program that provides hands-on education about cooking and gardening. We are a shared-use kitchen available to small business owners and entrepreneurs that provides community members an opportunity to grow or start a business without having to invest in large kitchen equipment or property up front. We are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture as a Food Sales Establishment and are best suited for bakers, farmers market vendors, and direct-to-consumer retailers. We are open 7 days a week from 7:00 am-6:00 pm.

Only low-risk packaged food can be prepared in our kitchen. This includes: certain categories of baked goods, jams and jellies, candies, dried mixes, spices, certain sauces and liquids, and pickles and acidified foods. High-risk foods, such as products containing meat, bone, or specialty dairy products cannot be prepared here.

Amenities include:
Commercial Kitchen Equipment- tilting skillet, tilting kettles, 2-burner gas range and grill, convection ovens, a proofer, Hobart standing mixer, cookware and utensils, spacious stainless steel prep tables, a high temperature commercial dishwasher, and access to dry, cool, and frozen storage.

Members also have access to additional facility rentals at a reduced price. These spaces include our demonstration kitchen and banquet hall, which are Ideal for product launches and tastings, cooking classes, menu development, filming and photo shoots, meetings, and large catered events and parties.

Weekdays (Monday-Thursday): $15/hour
Weekends (Friday-Sunday): $20/hour
